Albania makes Turin book fair debut

ROME, MAY 13 – Albania is debuting at the International book fair in Turin on May 16-20 with a stand, Ansamed reports. Protagonists of the stand, which has been set up by the Albanian cultural centre, are the most important contemporary Albanian novelists whose books have been translated into Italian and published among others by Einaudi, Feltrinelli, Longanesi, Tea, Besa, Controluce, Zandonai or Fandango. Among them are Ismail Kadare’, Anilda Ibrahimi, Ardian Kristian Kycyku, Elvira Dones, Fatos Kongoli, Gezim Hajdari, Ornela Vorpsi, Visar Zhiti, Ylljet Alicka. A special section has been dedicated to original language literature for the Albanian-language public alongside Italian authors published in Albania.
Also, a special section will be dedicated to the Arbereshe (Italian-Albanian) culture, curated by the Association Vatra Arbereshe with books from, among others, the University of Calabria, the Orinetal University of Naples, the Eparchia di Lungro, and the library of Piana degli Albanesi in Palermo.
The stand, inaugurated on May 16 at by the Albanian Ambassador to Italy, Neritan Ceka, will host a series of conferences with Albanian and Italian authors.
