Skampa theatre festival brings workshops, performances

TIRANA, Oct. 2 – Workshops and performances by Albania, Kosovo, Romanian and Azerbaijani theatres will be staged for one week in Elbasan in the annual Skampa international contemporary festival. The festival scheduled for October 7 to 13 in the Skampa theatre of the central Albanian city of Elbasan will bring workshops on playwriting by Kosovo playwright Jeton Neziraj and performances by several Albanian and international theatre companies.
The Skampa festival is one the biggest international theatre events in Albania established 15 years ago as a natural need for Albanian theatre on the road to European integration. Its aim is to present the main trends in Albania and international stage practice and create a space for intercultural dialogue. The festival has its face, its profile as a competition of facing values, to exchange experience, ideas and alternatives in the field of theatre. Some 150 premieres have been staged in the festival’s previous 14 editions.
