TIRANA, Nov. 21 – Albania’s Prime Minister Edi Rama welcomed the agreement between Kosovo’s two main political groupings for the creation of a new coalition government.
Rama said that Albania is by Kosovo’s side and joint projects will continue. Kosovo President Ahtifete Jahjaga said in a statement last week that the two major political parties – outgoing Prime Minister and Democratic Party of Kosovo (PDK) leader Hashim Thaci and the head of the Democratic League of Kosovo (LDK) Isa Mustafa – reached an agreement to form a coalition and end a six-month deadlock.
Tirana supported the deal saying that Kosovo needs a new, strong and capable majority. “A new era in the region requires from Kosovo to take a more active role in promoting peace in the region. Kosovo will need on one hand a strong new majority in order to face challenges and a strong opposition,” said Rama.
