TIRANA, April 9 – Albania is part of a Central and Southeast European group of nations that discussed energy security at a meeting held in Budapest.
The meeting, hosted by Hungarian Foreign Minister Peter Szijjarto, invited Albania to be alongside Greece, Macedonia, Serbia and Turkey discussing on efforts to boost cooperation in energy supply.
All countries agreed to hold regular meetings and set up an expert working committee to pave the way for infrastructure development projects.
The next meeting is planned to be held in July and both Albania and Bosnia-Herzegovina have been welcomed to join the cooperation scheme.
The current infrastructure was insufficient to establish energy security, Szijjarto said, adding the goals were to receive gas from multiple sources and to have suppliers compete for consumers, so all possible sources had to be supported.
