TIRANA, April 30 – Six documentary films by Argentinean, French, Austrian and Dutch directors have been selected to compete in the first edition of the DocuTIFF edition organized as part of the Tirana International Film Festival.
“The need for this new festival came after large number of applications sent during the 12th edition of TIFF 2014. It was impossible to show all these qualitative films at TIFF and that is the reason why we thought to divide and create every year new competitions for each category such as DocuTIFF, AnimaTIFF, ExpoTIFF, for documentary film, animated and experimental one respectively,” organizers said.
The festival aimed at promoting documentary film production in Albania will be held from May 9 to 13 at the University of Arts in Tirana
Hundreds of feature and short film, documentaries and animated movies from all over the world competed in last year’s edition of the Tirana International Film Festival held from October 23 to 31 in Tirana at the Millennium cinema.
Along with the Durres International Film Festival, TIFF is the biggest movie festival in Albania. The first and only international cinema festival of its kind in Albania, TIFF was established in 2003 showcasing movies competing in four categories including feature films, short-films, the Digiart, TV short film competition, and the Albanian short-film competition.
