TIRANA, June 18 – The latest movie by Albanian director Bujar Alimani will make its world premiere at the 50th edition of the Karlovy Vary international film festival, the largest film festival in the Czech Republic.
The Krom (Chromium) movie, an Albanian, Kosovo, German, and Greek co-production will compete in the East of the West section of the festival scheduled to be held from July 3 to 11.
“While a mute and lonely mother lives a life that is far from easy, she nevertheless bares her lot with dignity and courage. Her 15-year-old son is trying to stand on his own two feet, but in so doing he only complicates the grim situation in the family. This sensitive coming-of-age picture is the second feature from Albanian director Bujar Alimani,” says the festival about the movie.
Back in 2014, Albanian movie Bota (World) was announced the best film in the East of the West category at the 49th Karlovy Vary International Film Festival in the Czech Republic where it made its world debut.
“The jury found Bota a remarkable film with a rich script, three-dimensional characters, exquisite photography of current day Albania and beautiful nostalgic music soundtrack of past heritage,” the festival said on its website.
