TIRANA, Oct.9 – The ‘Marubi’ National Photography Museum will be hosting on Oct. 10 a photography exhibition on the pictures of Felix Nadar, which is titled ‘Nadar: in between rules and whims.’ The exhibition will open in Shkoder, and will remain open until Feb. 3, 2019.
The most prestigious studio photography in France at the end of 19th century and beginning of 20th, that of Felix Nadar, will bring a selected collection of his pictures at Marubi in Shkoder. Nadar invented the classic photographed portrait of ‘great men’, which is thought as the first principle. Then the art gave in to whims and photography of successful theatre acteurs shot by his son Paul, started to emerge in the beginning of 20th century, diverting thus the course of the photographers’ profession. The portrait trade goes from perspicuousness to fantasy confessing the development of a society where reputation codes are changed.
Gaspard-Felix Tournachon, under the renowned alias Nadar, was a French writer, caricaturist and the first portrait photographer who left a legacy of portraits pictures, holding one of the greatest and best collections ever produced.
This event is organized by Jeu de Paulme Photography Museum in Paris, in collaboration with the Mediatheque of Architecture and Cultural Heritage, the Ministry of Culture in France, the Embassy of France in Albania, and with the participation of ‘Marubi’ National Photography Museum in Shkoder.
