'Ernest' airlines' license suspended due to financial struggles, ENAC reports

TIRANA, Jan. 7 - The Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) recently disclosed the reasons for the suspension of the 'Ernest' airline company's operating flights in December, in addition to helping  passengers who have booked tickets understand where and how to apply for possible compensations.After being notified by the Italian Civil Aviation Authority (ENAC) of the license suspension of the 'Ernest' airlines company, the Albanian Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) submitted a clarification request to ENAC and was subsequently informed that due to the company's financial struggles, the Italian Aviation Authority was obliged to take the decision in hopes that the company would be able to provide the financial guarantees necessary for the continuation of its activity by 13 January 2020.

Representatives of 'Ernest' responded that that the company would commit itself to taking the necessary measures to guarantee the continuation of scheduled flights by January 13.

"As the authority responsible for licensing the company, the CAA is closely following the situation of the Italian airline company and will continuously make sure that the 'Ernest' and the Italian authorities respect the rights of the affected passengers," the CAA stated earlier. Since the announcement of the suspension, the company has been operating with limited aircraft and operating staff capacity. The situation has also led to cancellations and rescheduling of flights, but without permanently halting them.
