TIRANA, Feb. 26 – German Albanologist Gustav Weigand, famous for his research into Balkan languages, including Albanian will be commemorated on his 155th birth anniversary with an exhibition and conference in Tirana.

The National Library says the event is held in honour of the late Albanologist’s generous gift of 81 titles of his personal Albanology collection to the Library in 1930.

Gustav Weigand (1860-1930) was a German scholar and Balkan linguist who made a notable contribution to research on the Albanian language, especially on dialects and the origins of the Albanian people.

The exhibition will feature at the National Library in Tirana on Friday, February 27.
