TIRANA, Feb. 11 – Albania’s electronic and communication authority has obtained the observer status in the European Regulators Group for Postal Services, the ERGP, a group which serves as a body for reflection, discussion and advice to the European Commission in the postal services field.

Albania joins Turkey, Macedonia and Serbia as a permanent observer along with 28 EU member countries, AKEP said in a statement.

Established by a European Commission decision on August 10, 2010, the ERGP aims at facilitating consultation, coordination and cooperation between the independent national regulatory authorities in the Member States, and between those authorities and the Commission, with a view to consolidating the internal market for postal services and ensuring the consistent application of the Postal Services Directive.
