TIRANA, May 20 – Albania has made its third participation in the prestigious Turin Book Fair in Italy through a special stand featuring some of the country’s best authors who have had their works translated into Italian.
Ismail Kadare, Fatos Kongoli, Ylljet Aliçka, Diana Çuli and Besnik Mustafaj were some of the authors featured in the book fair, said the Turin-based Albanian Cultural Centre .
Special attention was also paid to Albanian authors who write in Italian such as Anilda Ibrahimi, Elvira Dones and Ornela Vorpsi.
Some literary meetings with Fatos Kongoli and Ornela Vorpsi, poetry readings and performances by two Albanian musicians based in Italy as well as the promotion of a tourist guide on Albania in Italian were some of the highlights of this year’s Albania participation in the Turin Book Fair.
“We are convinced that the stand in the book fair and the literary and cultural meetings will help in promoting the values of Albanian culture and fostering growth and consolidation in the Albanian-Italian relations,” said Benko Gjata, an Italy-based journalist who runs the Italian Cultural Centre in Turin.
The Wonders of Italy: Italian landscapes, UNESCO monuments and treasures, innovation, Italian creative expertise, and the country’s place in the imagination of the new map of a globalized world were the main topics of the 2015 Turin book fair held from may 14 to 18.
