TIRANA, June 3 – Albania remains part of a group of countries that contributes to NATO’s anti-terrorism operation in the Mediterranean Sea.
NATO’s Operation Active Endeavor was launched after the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks in the United States. As part of the operation, NATO ships and aircraft monitor and escort shipping across the Mediterranean to deter terrorist activity. Together with other non-NATO nations including Russia, Ukraine and Israel, Albania has agreed to cooperate with the mission. (Tirana Times Staff)
