TIRANA, June 8 – Albania’s Ministry of Agriculture, Rural Development and Water Administration launched a tender on expressions of interest from consultants to supervise rehabilitation and modernization of 11 dams in Albania’s Drin-Buna and Semani river basins.
The deadline is June 23.
Last year, power utility Korporata Elektroenergjetike Shqiptare (KESH) received responses for the work on the 11 dams. It also sought dam safety studies for the Drin River cascade of hydroelectric projects as well as spillway gates and stop logs rehabilitation for three projects on the Drin.
The World Bank has supplied Albania with 31 million euros for the Water Resources and Irrigation Project, which it plans to use for supervisory services for dam rehabilitation.
The 14 dams are in the Drin-Buna and Semani river basins.
