TIRANA, April 8 – Albania has pledged to increase its assistance to Afghanistan.
Last weekend when the country was accepted as a full member of the NATO alliance Prime Minister Sali Berisha said the Albanian army would add a company of 130 troops, a military medical team of 15 persons and would also build schools in Afghanistan.
Albania already has 142 troops in Afghanistan. It also sent to Afghanistan a small medical team for a short time.
This time the tiny Balkan country will double its troops but it is also considering assistance in the civil sector with the building of eight schools.
Based on its financial possibilities, Albania will contribute to the reconstruction of that country, according to the prime minister.
