TIRANA, July 23 – Albania will chair the managing committee of the South East Europe Transport Observer (SEETO) for the next two years.
SEETO is a regional organization led and managed by the European Union. The organization works to integrate European standards into the daily operations of all European countries, especially those seeking EU membership.
The organization is currently seeking to improve the main road network in southeast Europe to boost its economic development.
SEETO, created in 2004, is made up of Albania, Bosnia, Croatia, Kosova, Montenegro and Serbia.
It monitors the improvement in, or movement towards, legislation of the member countries so that the regional transport network develops simultaneously and achieves the levels of the pan-European network.
It also covers the naval, railway and air transport networks.
In the next two years Albania plans to invest some 500 million euros in the main road artieries in the country.
