TIRANA, May 19 – The Interior Ministry reported Monday that an Albanian has been arrested in Italy following an official request to Italian authorities. Following the arrest, the two countries have begun extradition procedures to return Brahimi to Albania for imprisonment. Ylli Brahimi, 31, was arrested in 2002 and sentenced to 11 years imprisonment for drug trafficking. At the time, Brahim was arrested while in possession of 20 kilograms of heroin but was later released. When the prosecutor chose to again try Brahim on drug trafficking charges, Brahim fled the country. (Tirana Times Staff)
