Albanian film week in New York shortlists 32 movies

TIRANA, Sept. 17 – Thirty-two films have been shortlisted for the fourth edition of the Albanian Film Week in New York.

The festival scheduled for October 30 to November 5 will showcase feature films, short films and documentaries from the latest productions of Albanian directors around the world.

“Three windows and a hanging” by Kosovo’s Isa Qosja, “Bota” (World) by Iris Elezi and Thomas Logoreci and “Amsterdam Express” by Fatmir Koà§i are the three feature films that will showcase in the festival. The festival will also feature 19 short films and 10 documentaries.

Founder Mrika Krasniqi started Albanian Film Week in 2012 with the goal of showcasing the best of Albanian cinema to New York. AFW presents the city with a diversity of Albanian cinematic creation from around the world to raise the profile of its talents, culture and film industry.

Its mission is to transform the way people see Albanian culture through film and promote cultural understanding and encourage artistic development and growth.

Each year AFW presents Red Carpet screenings of feature, short and documentary films, followed by Q&A, workshops, reception with artists and organizers, VIP after-party and Award Night Gala.
