TIRANA, Oct. 8 – Eight Albanian and foreign internationally renowned musicians have come together in Tirana in the second edition of the ‘Different Trains’ classical music festival. The festival which brings together some of Albania’s best classical musicians, opened on Oct. 8 at the University of Arts in Tirana with some performances composed by Albania’s Cesk Zadeja and Eriona Rushiti and some pieces by Zoltan Kodaly and Robert Schumann.
Milan-based violinist Klajdi Sahatci, Dorian Xhoxhi, the first violin in the Berliner Philarmoniker Orchestra, Olsi Leka, cellist at National Orchestra of Belgium, Vlorent Xhafaj, cellist at Kammerorchester Basel” and since 2012 co-solo at the Sydney Symphony Orchestra, and pianist Dhurata Lazo are the Albanian artists performing in the festival whose first two concerts were held on Oct. 8 and 9. Italian violinist Luca Ranieri and French pianist Adam Laloum are also part of the festival which concludes its second edition with two other concerts on October 11 and 12 with pieces from Schubert, Ravel, Brahms.
Cellist Vlorent Xhafaj, one of the festival’s organizers said last year’s inaugural festival in the centennial of independence is also a message of unity. “When performing at home you always have a special feeling. Considering that me, Dorian Xhoxhi or Klajdi Sahatci have not performed in Albania since we left the country to study abroad, the excitement becomes bigger,” said Xhafaj.
