TIRANA, Sept. 1 – The central banks of Albania and Germany will step up cooperation especially in technical assistance to the Bank of Albania. This was confirmed during the first visit a president of Deutsche Bundesbank, the central bank of the Federal Republic of Germany, has paid to Albania. Bundesbank President Jens Weidmann visited Albania late last August meeting Albanian central bank governor Ardian Fullani.
“President Weidmann appreciated the Bank of Albania role in preserving the country’s financial stability and expressed his readiness to further strengthen bilateral cooperation between the two central banks,” said the Bank of Albania in a statement.
“This is the first time the Bundesbank president has visited Albania. His visit comes at very important moments of economic and political developments in Albania and abroad. This is a sign of good cooperation and mutual confidence in our long-term relations. We determined monetary policy, supervision and financial stability as key areas of cooperation,” said governor Fullani when asked about the meeting at a press conference few days after the meeting.
