METHUEN, MASSACHUSETTS – Mayor William Manzi has named Alketa (Kate) Niko as September’s Artist of the Month. Niko, a native of Albania, started painting when she was in elementary school. At age 18, Kate started teaching art at her local YMCA in the U.S. and greatly enjoyed teaching art to children. She says her work expresses dynamism and energy through rich oil, acrylic and watercolors. During the summer she works as an art teacher at the Essex Art Center. She is a member of the Art Institute Group of the Merrimack Valley. “She is one of the many talented artists living and working in our community… I encourage people to come to my office and view her paintings,” Manzi said.
