TIRANA, May 19 – The Albanian postal service’s Internet site was blocked Monday by hackers inserting the slogan “Kosovo is Serbia, ” officials said.
Vice Director, General Fadil Smajlaj, said the postal service was checking with its Internet provider to determine where and how the slogan had been published and, then, blocked their site. The site now has a message stating, “under construction.”
Kosovo, with a predominantly ethnic Albanian population, declared independence from Serbia on February 17. Its split has been recognized by the United States and the bulk of the nations of the European Union. Serbia and its ally, Russia, oppose Kosovo’s statehood.(Tirana Times Staff)
