TIRANA, July 27 – Dozens of Albanian, Kosovo, Montenegrin and Macedonian and Bosnian publishers are displaying their publications in two separate book fairs in Montenegro’s Ulcinj and Kosovo’s Prizren. The biggest fair is being held in Ulcinj, where the traditional annual event celebrates its 11th edition. The one-week book fair which is being displayed at the local promenade of the coastal town with a majority ethnic Albanian population will remain open until July 30. Writers, academics and politicians from Montenegro, Kosovo and Albania were present at the book fair’s opening ceremony on July 25. Meanwhile, another book fair bringing together Albanian publishers is also being held in Kosovo’s Prizren. The book fair is a parallel event to Dokufest, the international documentary and short film festival which is also being held in Prizren from July 23 to 31. The Ulcinj book fair is expected to travel to the Albanian coastal city of Vlora in August. The biggest book fair event bringing together Albanian publishing houses is held in Tirana, traditionally in November when more than 80 publishers display their publications. Several prizes are awarded for the best author, best translator and best children’s book.
