ROME, Oct. 17 – An Albanian man shot his brother-in-law dead and seriously injured his wife before he was gunned down in an Italian courtroom during a separation hearing on Wednesday. The incident was witnessed by the couple’s two children, according to Italian media reports.
Clirim Fejzo shot his wife, Vjosa Demcolli, in the head before turning the gun on her brother, Arjan Demcolli, trying to disarm him.
The Albanian, identified as Clirim Fejzo, also wounded several other persons in the courthouse in the northern city of Reggio Emilia during the divorce hearing of the 40-year-old immigrant and his wife, who was also Albanian.
Police gunned him down as he tried to flee and at least two lawyers and a policeman were wounded during the violence.
Fejzo, who had lived about 10 years in Italy, was accused of beating his wife, and she had reportedly lived at a shelter for battered women for the past year.
