Albanian top leaders out of country

TIRANA, May 24 – Within the last 24 hours, Albania remained in the without its top leaders. President Alfred Moisiu left Wednesday for the Czech Republic, Prime Minister Sali Berisha traveled to NATO headquarters in Brussels, while Parliament Speaker Jozefina Topalli, deputy Prime Minister Gazmend Oketa, Justice Minister Ilir Rusmajli, Interior Minister Bujar Nishani, and Transport Minister Sokol Olldashi have gone to Italy for a conference on regional investment.
Additionally, the Prosecutor General and the army chief-of-staff were also reported to be out of the country. That means, according to the state protocol, Albania was practically being run by Fatos Beja, parliament deputy speaker.
