TIRANA, May 30 – Albania’s main opposition Democratic Party is facing internal turmoil a month ahead of general elections as two senior figures have publicly called for the sacking of the party’s leader, Lulzim Basha. Jozefina Topalli, a former deputy party leader and former speaker of parliament, and Arben Imami, among the party’s founders and a former defense minister, called a press conference Monday to express their dismay at the team of MP candidates chosen by Basha ahead of the June 25 elections.
