Albania’s President Appoints New Labour Minister

TIRANA, May 20 – Albanian President, Bamir Topi, appointed Deputy Justice Minister, Viktor Gumi, as the country’s new Labor and Equal Opportunities Minister on Tuesday, 19th of May, the president’s office said.

Viktor Gumi replaces Anastas Duro who resigned last week.

Since 2005 when Prime Minister Sali Berisha took office, the only ministers of the initial government lineup that have remained unchanged are Finance Minister Ridvan Bode, Economy, Trade and Energy Minister Genc Ruli, Environment Minister Lufter Xhuveli and Agriculture Minister Jenim Gjana.

Gumi’s Human Rights Union Party (PBDNj) has forged a coalition with the leftist opposition in the run-up to the country’s June general election.
