TIRANA, March 22 – Albania’s Stabilization and Association Agreement it signed with the European Union three years ago and that has been now ratified by all its member countries will start to be implemented in the tiny Balkan country April 1.
The Tirana government says they have taken all the required precautions to fully and adequately apply it.
That has also served for the government as other indices for its effort to now apply for the candidate status with Europe.
Authorities say they have started not only to apply the required strategy but also realign its administration of different institutions in line with the requirements as a future EU member state and also approximate its laws with those of the bloc.
Integration Minister Majlinda Bregu said last week that fulfilling the requirements for the political aspect were also of prior importance to the executive, starting with the rule of law and the democracy in the upcoming parliamentary elections of June 28.
Issuing new identity cards is a main aspect of such reforms, also assisting the country in its efforts to liberalize visas with the EU member countries.
Fighting corruption remains another top priority, despite what the government claims as successes.
