Ali Pasha castle to turn into art venue for ArtKontakt

TIRANA, July 18 – After several editions, ArtKontakt returns with its intercultural dimension, continuously seeking to include artists from the Mediterranean and the Balkans. Their creations in this festival seek to evoke the joint history in the light of modernity.
The Ali Pasha castle in Porto Palermo, southern Albania will turn into an art venue bringing together international artists for three days next August in the ArtKontakt international festival. The 2012 edition of the ArtKontakt Festival aims to explore impressions, experiences, perspectives and sentiments that art is reflecting in this historic moment, as a result of the global crisis.
Art and musical performances, workshops will be some of the events featured in the festival scheduled for August 10 to 12.
The art festival features various innovative artistic techniques such as video, performances, installations, photography, modern ballet, experimental music, thus creating an artistic laboratory of ideas and expressions at the castle of Ali Pasha in Porto Palermo-Himara.
The Festival will be a creative space where art enthusiasts and artists of all genres (photography, painting, video, graphics, performance, music, design etc.) can express your talent, experience, inspire each other and turn the castle of Porto Palermo and all its territory into a creative and friendly zone.
Located in the 140-kilometer stretch of coastline between Vlora to Saranda, the18-century castle of Ali Pasha is regarded as one of the most attractive locations in the Albanian Riviera.
The castle of Ali Pasha is a place that transmits events, oral stories, history, traditions and lifestyles that are necessary to realize appropriate installations in order to create the atmosphere of the past. The installations are located along the road that leads to Porto Palermo.
