TIRANA, July 9 – After her “Hospital gowns” exhibition, American photographer Elizabeth M. Claffey is displaying some new pictures in a collection called “Blessed are your hands.” The exhibition supported by the US embassy in Tirana will remain open at the Zeta gallery in Tirana from July 10 to 17.
In her “Uniform” exhibition at the Miza gallery in Tirana which will remain open until July 15, Elizabeth M. Claffey explores the relationship between medical practices and life experience. Through images, personal narrative, and installation her creative research shows how individual interactions with medical practices and institutions can have a lasting influence on one’s quality of life and how the clinical examination of intimate physicality can cause a person to view his or her body as a foreign or feared object. The exhibition will remain open until July 15.
Elizabeth M. Claffey is a photographer and book artist currently living in Boise, Idaho.
