TIRANA, Jan. 29 – Alma Kovaci, the assistant coach at Army for the past four seasons, has been promoted to head coach with the departure of Glen Conley to Kent State, according to Times Herald-Record newspaper. The paper wrote that former coach Glen Conley had left and was being replaced by Kovaci, considered as “one of the finest young coaches in the country. Without question, she is the person best suited to take our program to the next level,” according to Army athletic director Kevin Anderson. Kovaci was a standout player for Temple University, and played for her native Albania in the 2005 FIVB World Championships. She also played in the U.S. Professional Volleyball League. Since Conley arrived in 1999, Army made the Patriot League tournament every year and made three championship appearances.
