Arrests of alleged thieves, corrupted officials

TIRANA, March 18 – Tirana police arrested two teenagers, Rinor Preng촩, 18, and Junik Ismailaj, 18, and charged them with theft.
Edmond Hasa, 21, was also arrested for theft in Tirana.
In another operation, Tirana police arrested Lorenc Shehi, 21, and Florant ȥla, 21, while trying to burglarize a small bar in the capital.
Police also arrested two other persons for stealing a motor-bike.
Meanwhile, Berat police arrested two customs officials, Hodo Hasani, 34, and Shaban Danushi, 45, after arranging payments from a local businessmen to speed up procedures at their customs checkpoint. They allegedly asked the businessmen to make a regular payment every 10th of the month. Tirana also arrested two persons exchanging money at the black market behind the Bank of Albania in central Tirana.
Lastly, Gezim Visha, 43, was arrested and is being held as a suspect in the attempted murder of two people still recovering at a local hospital.
