TIRANA, May 2 – After successful promo tours around Europe, Aurela Gace is already in Germany’s Dusseldorf rehearsing for her “Feel the passion” which is representing Albania in this edition of the Eurovision song contest. The Albanian representative will perform in the first semi-final on May 10 at a starting position #3, organizers say.
Feel the passion is an up-tempo pop rock song. The lyrics are a declaration of love.
The official video clip for the Albanian entry Feel the passion, featuring the new English version of the song, has already been released. Aurela Gace and the composer of the song Shpetim Saraci teamed up with well-known names of the American music industry to produce the final version of the Albanian song.
Aurela said that she is not interested in the voting process, but in the artistic level of her song and the fully Albanian song character. “I believe I have a song with a strong character, which means that the music that I in cooperation with my coworkers transmit in Eurovision, has an Albanian character, fact which makes me happy enough, even if I get listed the last.”
Last December, Aurela Ga襠was announced as Albania’s 2011 Eurovision representative after winning the 49th edition of the national Festivali i Kenges song contest. Ga襬 who had also previously won the Albanian Festivali i Kenges twice back in 1999 and 2001, will represent Albania for the first time in the 2011 Eurovision song contest scheduled to be held from May 10 to 14 in Germany’s Dusseldorf. Her successful comeback with Kenga ime (Feel the passion) received maximum points from the jury.
Albania joined the Eurovision Song Contest in 2004 and achieved its only top ten placing in a final to date that year. The country was less successful since finishing 16th in 2005 and being eliminated in the 2006 and 2007 semi finals. Since then, Albania has always made it to the final finishing 16th twice and 17th once.
This will be Albania’s eighth participation in the Eurovision Song Contest. For the sixth time overall and for the fourth time in a row the country is represented by a female solo performer. “Feel the passion” is the sixth Albanian entry in total and the third one in a row to be performed mainly in English. However, it also includes two lines in Albanian.
Aurela Gace, who now shares her singing career between the United States and Albania, began her singing career at a very young age participating in children’s song contest where her talent was spotted.
She has been working in different genres, from folk to dance and classical pop.
