TIRANA, Oct. 7 – Air conditioners invading the facades of apartment blocks in Tirana, the half-clad manikins or the bar tables along the sidewalks are some of the drawings Austrian artist Georg Frauenschuh is featuring at the Zeta art gallery in Tirana after a one-month artist-in-residence in the Albanian capital.

“They are images which I accidentally captured as I walked the streets of Tirana in a double emotional state, very happy about the view the city offered but at the same time lost. I took out my camera and captured some elements you don’t come across in other countries,” the artist told a local TV.

“The purpose is not telling a story but to show the viewpoints of Tirana which is inspiring for foreign artists, such as buildings which are not uniform and there are no strict rules as far as infrastructure and facades are concerned. They are multicolor and multiform,” he adds.

Frauenschuh, 36, is an Austrian contemporary artist who has participated in dozens of solo and collective exhibitions around Europe.

The exhibition called “Every insight is aflashback” will be open at the Zeta gallery until October 15.

Since its launch in 2007, the Zeta gallery become among the few private galleries with a tight agenda of events focusing on visual arts and young contemporary artists, providing huge contribution to their support and promotion.
