TIRANA, May 2 – Albanian
Foreign Minister Lulzim
Basha took part in an international
conference of the Atlantic
Association of New Politicians
held in Tirana.
The conference was focused
on the role of new politicians
in promoting democracy
and stability.
Basha spoke about the stabilizing
role played by the
newly-independent state,
Kosova and Basha said NATO
should continue its mission in
Kosova to maintain stability
there.
“NATO should continue its
own mission there to maintain
security and stability, the free
movement, protection of minorities
and religious activities,”
said Basha.
“However, the UN mission
alone cannot be successful in
meeting the tasks, ” Basha
said. “Therefore, the international
organizations should
work together with the local
government and act responsively.”
Basha said the UN and EU
should continue playing a vigorous
and stabilizing role in
Kosova and the UN mission
presence should gradually
shift its powers to the EU-led
mission. (Tirana Times Staff)
