Basha lobbies for NATO membership in Brussels

TIRANA, March 12 – Foreign Minister Lulzim Basha had high-level meetings with NATO officials in Brussels to discuss the likely membership invitation the country hopes to be offered next month at the Bucharest summit.
Basha met with U.S. and Spanish ambassadors in Brussels, as well as with Deputy Secretary General James Perdew. He also met with his Dutch and Danish counterparts and with Cyprus’ new foreign minister.
Basha introduced his government’s total commitment to rigorously fulfill all requirements asked from the alliance.
Kosova and regional security were among the main topics of discussions during the talks.
Basha also met with Peter Faith, the EU representative in Kosova.(Tirana Times Staff)
