Renowned painters from Albania, Kosovo, Canada, Japan and even Iraq are part of this travelling exhibition which traces the art shadows in artworks of small dimensions
TIRANA, Jan. 20 – Some 138 international artists are displaying their artworks in the Edward Lear gallery of the southern UNESCO World Heritage site of Berat. The “White Shadows” exhibition travelled to Berat after its display at the Qahili art gallery in Prishtina.
Renowned painters from Albania, Kosovo, Canada, Japan and even Iraq are part of this travelling exhibition which traces the art shadows in artworks of small dimensions.
“The white shadows are the shadows which follow us artistically because art is a white shadow,” said Nita Qahili, the director of the newest art gallery in Kosovo.
Agron Polovina, the director of the Edward Lear gallery in Berat said “visitors are introduced to works of small dimensions and a diversity of techniques.”
The exhibition in Berat will remain open for two weeks until February 5.
Open since 1994, the gallery named after British author Edward Lear, is one of the eldest and most important galleries in Albania. Its collection reveals the contemporary and traditional works of arts by Albanian and foreign artists.
Berat, also known as the city of 1001 windows, is acclaimed for its cultural heritage, especially for the famous icons created by renowned 16 century painter Onufri.
