Prime Minister Edi Rama has recently announced that the Public Library of Berat ‘Vexhi Buharaja’ is being transformed into an important cultural heritage center by the national program of urban regeneration. “The library of the city is being transformed radically through the national program of urban regeneration, a city that after more than twenty years is getting back the government’s attention towards the downtrodden cultural heritage values and the territory of agricultural production,” Rama said.
Berat’s Public Library bears the name of well-known Albanian poet Vexhi Buharaja. Built in 1973, the library is located in the city center. It is administrated by the Municipality of Berat and serves a community of around 65 thousand inhabitants.
