VLORA, May 5 – Prime Minister Sali Berisha continued his electoral trips this time in the southwestern port city of Vlora where he met with youth.
Visa free within a year of the next mandate, turning Vlora into one of the biggest ports of the Mediterranean and securing their employment, were some of the pledges made by the premier to Vlora youth.
Berisha based his speech on the country’s achievements during his governing in the last four years: NATO membership and application for EU membership.
“Vlora and Albania had been waiting for centuries for these two dates. And these two events have become a reality today,” said the premier.
Berisha said that Vlora was “one of the main tourist centers of the country. The government would build an industrial park. Vlora will have one of the biggest ports of the Mediterranean. This city will have its airport; hence you will feel like citizens of a real European metropolis.”
The premier promised that during a second mandate the visa liberalization would be the main objective to be achieved.
But his trip also sparked calls from the opposition parties to stop exploiting the youth for political purposes. Opposition political parties condemned Berisha for stopping the class hours of the high school students obliging them to take part at his electoral meeting.
