TIRANA, April 19 – Prime Minister Sali Berisha praised the religious harmony in Albania at a ceremony held by the Muslim community last weekend.
Berisha noted that he proudly mentions the, “love and respect we show to the other’s faith,” in all international meetings he participates in. Albanians were barred from practicing religion from 1947 until 1990, when communism ended. Albania, predominantly Muslim with large Orthodox Christian and Roman Catholic minorities, is officially a secular nation, and relations between religious communities are generally good.
