Berisha meets with senior UNHCR official

TIRANA, Feb. 23 – Prime Minister Sali Berisha met Friday with Erika Feller, UNHCR’s assistant commissioner visiting the country. Berisha highly evaluated the UNHCR’s role in the country, especially during the Kosova crisis in 1999 when up to one million Kosovar refugees came to Albania. Feller also evaluated Albania’s cooperation with the agency and pledged to further collaborate with the country. The government is preparing a national strategy for the integration of the asylum seekers and of the minorities in the Albanian society. The premier welcomed assistance from the U.N. agency.
