Better cooperation has resulted in more extradition this year, police say

TIRANA, Feb. 2 – Police reported that as a result of the increase cooperation with neighboring and other countries this year there have been extradited into Albania nine persons who have to serve prison terms for different crimes and one was sent to Italy.
On Friday ?Shpend Hekuran Kasa, 24, from Peqin, was extradited after he had been issued an international arrest warrant. Kasa has been sentenced to nine years imprisonment for prostitution exploitation after he had illegally trafficked to Italy a woman and forced her to prostitute in 2001. ?Edmond Qazim Spahaj, 31, from Vlora, was extradited to serve 12 years imprisonment for pedophilia and prostitution exploitation. He had trafficked to Italy a minor who had also been sexually abused and maltreated for about two years. Police and justice ministry are also applying request to get 14 Albanians who have been arrested this year in Greece, Italy, Britain, France, U.S., Germany, Montenegro, Netherlands and Belgium.
