TIRANA, April 24 – “Building Plus…” is the newest exhibition that has opened at the Zeta gallery in Tirana. The exhibition brings a series of paintings featuring Albania’s new urban development, often chaotic, and will remain open to the public until April 30.
“The portraits painted by Kosta Ko詠are direct depictions of the Albanian life in a forbidden animation, and in-between the obvious and the stand-still it is concealed the dichotomy of repression and expression. Paintings are created within a historical context, but without the irony of the historical distance. In the changes of the palette of colours and the increased use of the impasto – from Ko詧s earlier paintings to the last ones – we find the reflection of the Albanian point of view on life, with a consistent and profound sense of humanity that is extended throughout his oeuvre,” the gallery says about the painter.
Open since 2007, the Zeta centre is a non- profit center focused on visual arts that promotes collaborative, professional practices between the artists and curators, critics, researchers and other art professionals in order to contribute to the establishing of an active contemporary art scene in Albania. During the past 4 years, it has been hosting solo exhibitions by Albanian and international artists and has been a partner of important contemporary art events in Albania such as Artist Talk and Artist in Residency in cooperation with Tirana Institute of Contemporary Arts.
