TIRANA, Nov. 27 – Albania’s Prime Minister, Sali Berisha, while on a visit in Sofia to participate at the meeting of the state leaders of the countries from the Central European initiative (CEI), said in an interview with Focus news agency that Albania and Bulgaria had excellent ties and a rich heritage of relations.
“I think that Bulgaria’s position in the European Union will help us for our EU integration,” Barisha said.
Berisha also spoke of Kosovo and other international issues.
He considered the CEI meeting in Sofia as very important, mentioning a series of initiatives organized by Bulgaria while holding the presidency.
“I think that the actions undertaken by the Central European initiative will play a huge role in the process of integration and accession to NATO and the European Union, as well as for regional cooperation,” he said.
“Kosova must be a free state where the Serbs and all the rest of the ethnic communities have rights and freedoms. I think that Kosovo’s citizens’ wish for independence should be respected,” he said.
