Bulgarian minister hails Albania’s NATO membership invitation

TIRANA, April 23 – Bulgarian Foreign Minister (and deputy prime minister) Ivailo Kalfin on Wednesday hailed Albania’s success in receiving NATO’s membership invitation at its last summit. Kalfin, on an official visit to Albania, met with top officials, including President Topi, Prime Minister Berisha. During the visit, he talked about bilateral ties and efforts to increase not only political contacts but also intensify dialogue and economic cooperation. Both countries are participating in the AMBO pipeline project and other projects in Corridor 8. Kalfin also discussed developments in Kosova. Bulgaria is one of 37 countries that have already recognized an independent Kosova. The two countries also signed an agreement on opening information and cultural centers in Tirana and Sofia.
