Calik Group supports symposium on computing

TIRANA, June 6 – Albtelecom, Eagle Mobile and BKT– part of Turkey’s Calik Group– support “The First International Symposium on Computing in Informatics and Mathematics,” organized by Epoka University in cooperation with Alexander Moisiu University in Durres. The 3-day activity was held from June 2-4, 2011 in Durres and Tirana. The event was attended by the Minister of Technology and Innovation, Genc Pollo, the General Director of Albtelecom and Eagle Mobile, Dr. Orhan Coskun, the Rector of Epoka University, Hasan Kaplan, Mit’hat Mema, Rector of Alexander Moisiu University in Durres, and various academics from around the country and the world. The Symposium was open for international participants as well. The main purpose of this activity was the promotion and development of computer science, computing in informatics and mathematics in Albania and the exchange of experiences between different academics. In his speech, the General Director of Albtelecom and Eagle Mobile, the leading supporters of this symposium, said the support and development of technology have been a priority of the two companies since the beginning. According to him, the two companies offer the most sophisticated technology to the customers, ranking them alongside developed countries. “We are very happy to have the opportunity to support an activity of such dimensions, organized by Epoka University and Aleksander Moisiu University.” In these years we have worked hard to bring the latest technology to the Albanian customer. We have invested in fiber optic deployment and new technologies among the most modern ones, which did not previously exist in Albania. On this occasion, I would like to guarantee the Albanian people that the two companies will continue to support with serious investments the application of latest technology,” said Mr. Coskun. Albtelecom and Eagle Mobile have continuously supported various activities regarding Education in Albania, while having declared 2011 as the “Year of Education” within which different projects with impact on education have been organized.
