Cannabis destroyed, suspects questioned in northern Shkodra

SHKODRA, Aug. 18 – Police destroyed some 5,600 plants of cannabis sativa in three villages in northern Shkodra, and are investigating ten people suspected of being involved in growing the cannabis.

Some 140 policemen were involved in the operation in the communes of Temal, Pult and Shllak at the time when the cannabis plants has reached maturity.

Albania remains a main country of origin for cannabis and marijuana production. Local police have set fighting the spread of the drug as a top priority.
