Swiss Cultural Events to mark 11 Years of Work in Albania
TIRANA, Oct. 28 – On Thursday, 4 November 2010, the Swiss Cultural Programme in the Western Balkans (SCP), with the support of the Embassy of Switzerland in Albania, will organise the opening of the special event called “Continuity Through Diversity” to mark the eleven-year anniversary of the Programme in Albania. The occasion will also mark the closure of the Office in Tirana in December 2010, as an inherent part of SCP’s restructuring and stronger focusing on the regional cooperation until the end of 2012, according to a statement by the Swiss Cooperation Office in Albania.
This event will launch a series of activities to be implemented in various Albanian cities during November and December and will retrospect on the achievements in the past decade. Over the past 11 years the SCP supported high quality events and projects, responding to the needs of cultural professionals and beneficiary audiences in Albania. Over 500 small actions and longer-term projects have received support in this period, amounting to 2.8 million Swiss Francs.
The SCP will continue investing in cultural scenes of the Western Balkan countries, through supporting Regional Cooperation projects until the end of 2012. Such initiatives are developed and implemented in partnership between cultural organizations coming from Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Kosovo, Macedonia and Serbia, and aim to contribute to overall changes and integration processes in the region. The special programme of the eleventh anniversary of the SCP in Albania is aimed at emphasizing the potentials created for the continuation of cultural actions.
Moreover, the event will also promote the Cultural Strategy, co-financed by the SCP, which formulates a clear policy framework for further development of Albanian culture in the years to come.
