Cuts in vetting bodies’ staff, salaries lead to justice reform concerns

TIRANA, Sept. 28 – The justice reform will have to make due with less, according to a parliamentary committee decision to lower salaries and staff numbers for the official bodies that will do the vetting of judges and prosecutors. Based on a decision this week of the Parliamentary Legal Affairs Committee three newly-established institutions in charge of the vetting process will be allowed to hire about 110 employees, far fewer than the nearly 200 positions they had requested.
