Dajti’s accomplice arrested
TIRANA, Aug 10 – Elvis Karoli, 21, was arrested by the Tirana police as he was considered a main suspect in league with Dritan Dajti at last weekends shootout.
Police said they found ammunition and also other equipment used for explosive devices.
Police are in a difficult situation amidst serious criticism of allegedly holding an operation without proper management.
Many former top police officials criticize top police officials of conducting an operation against a serious criminal without equipping their officers with the proper means to apprehend him safely. They also say in such operations it is up to the specialized RENEA police forces to operate and not to those who did make the attempt at capture.
There have been voices from family members of the dead policemen that they were rushed to the operation and not allowed to get necessary body armor.
The funeral ceremony was joined by those grieving for the four top police officers and also wondering if other policemen were afraid to fight crime at the moment.
