TIRANA, Dec. 19 – The Ministry of Economy said Wednesday that many Chinese-made toys were to be banned from Albanian stores.
It also urged businessmen not to sell the toys and also advised custom and taxation authorities to stop all imports of the goods. The ministry said that there existed a number of such toys with a lead-tainted threat in the market. It said that Fisher Price company had already appealed to withdraw some of such toys because of the amount of lead found in their material. But it also said that there existed another group of toys considered as dangerous by the European Union, which should also be banned from the market due to threat they present including suffocation, poisoning, electric shock, and physical and bacteriological damages which have been revealed when tested in the EU laboratories.
